I recently had a disappointing experience at Walton Hall Hotel & Spa during our afternoon tea. We were looking forward to this treat after a spa morning, especially since I had informed the restaurant about a serious nut allergy affecting one of our guests. I reached out ahead of time, as instructed in the booking confirmation, and was assured that the kitchen would be made aware. However, when we arrived for afternoon tea, we were told by our waitress that everything on the menu contained nuts. After questioning this, she went to consult the chef & returned without a solution, asking if we were genuinely allergic, which felt dismissive. There was no apology or acknowledgment of our serious concern, & we were offered an alternative lunch menu instead, which was not what we expected. When we reiterated the allergy situation, we were informed that the reception staff do not communicate with the chef. This was quite alarming, especially given the seriousness of the allergy. In the end, we were provided with a limited selection of finger sandwiches & fruit, which felt inadequate considering the situation & the price we paid for the afternoon tea. We left without having eaten anything, feeling frustrated & disappointed. This experience was not what we had hoped for, & I believe it highlights a significant lapse in customer care regarding dietary restrictions, especially when I believe it is the law to provide allergy alternatives. It really felt like it wasn't taken seriously and we were made to feel stupid for being upset! I hope this feedback helps improve the service for future guests.

This was a nice hotel, located in a very rural location, extremely quiet and plenty of parking. The reception staff were 100%, couldn't do enough to check us in and make us feel welcome. The room was really warm (mid winter), and we had a private balcony. The breakfast gave us a huge choice of what we wanted, absolutely everything. Evening meal was very good and the staff were superb in serving us. Our room had everything we needed including internal and tea coffee. Close to all major towns and even a great Saturday massive market close by. This was a nice stay, we didn't use the pool facilities as we didn't have time plus being winter, but available if we did. I even heard an owl at night time!!.

Me and my daughter have just had a lovely relaxing stay at walton hall.. couldnt of asked for anything more ..lovely friendly staff, great facililities and surroundings, lovely food and clean comfy warm rooms...(and a great package deal too) Ive got to be honest before arriving I was abit skeptical after reading soo many recent bad reveiws ..but we didnt spot a single fault and thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away..thank you to all the staff.. People are quick enough to write a bad reveiw about picky little things but not soo quick to write a positive reveiw, what it deserves.

Very average. Arrived with friends for a spa day and we were greeting by a really friendly helpful man in the spa reception desk who provided us with info. (The lady that took over a few hours later was unfriendly and when we asked questions we felt like an inconvenience!) The treatment was lovely and my therapist was fab and gave me information about the products etc. The pool area is basic. Uncomfortable beds, and the pool was quite cold. Also no hot tub and the area is in need of some modernisation. When we left at the end of the day and went to shower the water was cold (I decided against it as I'd had enough of cold water!) when we told the unhelpful receptionist she replied 'yes it will be at this time on an evening (5pm)!! We then went for a tea/coffee before leaving and the machine was broken and no cups. We did ask but nobody returned so we left. I think it's very much in need of some modernisation. I visit a lot of spa's and this was average. Fab treatment though (that's only 20 mins though the rest of the day spent around the pool was not as fab!)

Great location - and it stops there ! No wonder they offer such low prices on Groupon. Basic in every way, no evening menu, no restaurant, just cheap bar and cheap food at high end prices. So so disappointing. Couldn’t wait to check out - one star is a bit much to be fair 👎

We stayed for three nights again at this well located hotel that is set well back from the main road and near to attractions in the area. Very spacious and well appointed bedroom. Reception check in and out was great. Additional heater in the bedroom was needed from the external drafts from door/window frame. Bedroom doors could do with soft closes - very noisy from other bedrooms slamming/shuddering the bedroom early in the morning and evening. Evening meals were great and breakfast was fine.

Just returned back from a lovely weekend spent here. To start with, I did have a few requests and spoke with a few members of the team, Chantel and Cristina were extremely helpful throughout the process. Arriving at the hotel, the grounds leading to the hotel were lovely and peaceful, checkin was simple and a lovely cheery guy checked us in and gave us some tips on getting to our room (it was a walk!) We were in room 3, which was a suite with stunning views of the grounds. Breakfast was nice and fresh, with coffee, tea, juice etc, as well as continental and cooked breakfast options served buffet style so you can help yourself and have as much as you like. We also ate dinner on site at the restaurant, the prices were good and the service was excellent. A lovely young woman named Amber served us on the Friday night and she was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we had a nice experience. Both nights we were seated and spoke with another lovely lady - I did not catch her name but she was always cheery and really enhanced the experience. The food on both nights and at the breakfasts were really good, quality and good portions for the price. The drinks were also reasonably priced and had a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic options. The tap water was also really good!! I did not get a chance to experience the spa as we had plans during our stay but overall a really enjoyable time. Except for the 4am alarm that rang 3 times on the Saturday/Sunday morning. No fault of the hotel or staff but selfish holidayers making a nuisance. Would definitely return here and thanks again to the whole team.

Room keys don't work properly and you have to walk 10 minutes to reception to get it sorted and they won't come to you, spa is worse than an everyone active. Staff are rude and unhelpful overpriced and operated just looks decent as the buildings old stone on the outside food menu is also extremely basic

We visited for a spa day and afternoon tea. The wellness facilities are a bit run down and could use a deep clean and redec. The massage was amazing. Afternoon tea was a bit basic, but the staff were friendly.

It was ok. Room 48 in the stables was nice but very noisy boiler that is sure to wake up your partner during the night if you use the bathroom. Restaurant menu is basic. Burger, chicken or pizza pretty much. Have to pay an additional £10 per person to use the pool - this is a recently added extra.

This is a typical Mercure, meaning the room was freezing cold when I arrived and everything had a 'faded glory' feel to it. Once I plugged in the heaters and set everything to maximum it warmed up ok but I feels as if this should be done before the guest arrives. The room was nice, clean, comfortable but a bit shabby. The bathroom and shower was ok but we were in a more expensive room so I expected better. We attended a New Year's Eve event and I must say the food was excellent along with the staff. They really put effort into it, but most of the staff serving us were agency. The breakfast was OK, just the standard canteen style food, but good enough. It's in the middle of nowhere down what feels like a track and the signage, once you get to the hotel is confusing. There is no mobile phone coverage (or not on voda) but the hotel provides free wifi-5. On the whole we quite enjoyed ourselves but I struggle to rate it, overall, above 3.

Terrible..went on a coach trip for New Year.. and what a disappointment..not enough staff..hardly any had spoken English..food a disaster..many left without anything to eat..Gala meal not much gala about it....our trips out were good ..but sorry never again..hotel unable to cope with 200 people..

Arrived at hotel on 23rd December 24, warm greeting from reception towards myself and my group. Rooms were comfortable and warm.. The hotels crowning glory was its food, head chef Kerry was understanding of my guests dietary requirements and offered tasty alternatives. Well done also the 2 Sams who were the restaurant managers for the week. I could go on but what i want to say is top notch service and i shall hopefully be back in the near future 💖👍

Both my husband and I had an overnight stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. Friendly helpful staff, clean, comfortable room, tasty food. The spa facilities were clean and relaxing and as we went in a quiet time it was not overcrowded. Would recommend

Had a conference here. Low quality food, really grubby building. Some staff seem to be smart, mostly they clearly don't want to be there though, I didn't.

I loved the service even though they were short-staffed they made sure to give the best service, rooms were comfortable, clean and big, the property outdoors was beautiful!! Great location!

The setting of the hotel was beautiful.. the room we had in Orchard Mews was on the basic side but was literally just somewhere to rest our heads so that never bothers us.. We had the 2 course set menu and I found the options very limited due to my dietary needs. I don't have allergies but certain foods don't agree with me. So I only had a starter and desert which was yummy (the best part of my meal. My husband had the jalfrezi for main meal. He was ill throughout the night so we got up and left before having breakfast. So all in all it wasn't a great stay

Very pleasant location. It’s a little of the radar as it were and Google likes to send you down a farmers road so I have asked for the road change on Google. The rooms as can be seen are nice and welcoming. Clean and well kitted out. There is a large car park and friendly helpful staff. Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to enjoy anything further with the hotel facilities however there were plenty.
